Countdown to Texas Frightmare Weekend 2012

I'm getting excited now. Right about this time every year I start planning on what is sure to be a weekend I always remember. I'm talking about the South West's largest horror convention, Texas Frightmare Weekend (TFW). I would like to say I go every year but it's worked out that I go about every other year. I didn't go the last year so it's a must that I go now.

This year will be different for many reasons, first off I don't live in the DFW Metroplex anymore. In years past I never lived over an hour away from the festivities. Now I live eight hours away, in an entirely different state. If history proves anything it's that it is well worth the trip to attend TFW. Below is my list of top three reasons you should attend if your on the fence.

3. The Celebrity Guest
It never fails to happen the good people who run TFW always manage to bring in a truckload of great genre guest, this year is no exception. If I got everything I wanted signed by every guest I wanted to meet I would cost me around $650. In the past that was doable, but this year I'll be spending at least that much on travel expenses and hotel fair. It's going to be a hard choice but I'm going to have to widdle it down to about four autographs.

Not an easy task considering who's going; people like Lambeto Bava, William Forsythe, Michael Madsen, Clint Howard, Gunnar Hanson, and so many more.[Full Guest List Here]

2. The Screenings
From the moment the doors officially open there are screenings going on of great Horror fair. Lot's of independent works that you may never get another chance to see on a big screen, as well as classic horror films that take on an entirely different atmosphere when viewed with 300 blood thirsty fans.

As of this writing there isn't an official list a features that will be screened but it's sure to be awesome as always.

1. The Dealers Room
Those who know me know I'm a collecting freak. Toys, Posters, Magazines, Comics, and DVDs are just some of the things I obsess over. I've been to a lot of other conventions and no matter what the theme the dealers room often times mirrors the Star Wars aisle at Walmart.

That couldn't be anymore further from the truth at TFW. This is a Horror Con and damnit they actually have  sellers slinging Horror goods! Original Art, Toys, DVDs, Memorabilia, and so much more is all for the taking, if you have the cash. But if there was ever a place to wheel and deal it's in the dealers room.

These are my main reason to go, but there's so much more going on than what's listed here. The star studded vip party, celebrity Q&A panels, and contest make this a must attend event if your anywhere near it.

TFW has a really nice site up, where you can find out all sorts of information, buy tickets, and find hotels near by, visit here.
